Tagalog News: 55,000 mag-aaral sa daycare centers mabibiyayaan sa Food-for-School program

Koronadal City (29 February) -- Ini-ulat ni Ms. Merilyn Guerra, Nutritionist at Dietician ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 12 inaayos na ang pagpapatupad ng 44 araw na pamimigay ng isang kilong Iron Fortified Rice (IFR) sa mga mag-aaral ng piling Day Care Centers sa lalawigan ng Sultan Kudarat, Cotabato, South Cotabato at Saranggani.

Ayon pa kay Gueera, ang Food For School program sa taong 2007-2008 ay pinondohan ng mahigit PhP44 milyon at inaasahang makakabenepisyo sa limamput-limang libong (55,000) Day Care pupils sa 1,942 Day Care Centers sa buong rehiyon sa ilalim ng programang Anti-Hunger Mitigation Program (AHMP) na isinusulong ng administrasyong Arroyo.

Ang Food for School ay isang agarang intervention ng pamahalaan upang tugunan ang problema sa pagkain lalo na ng mga mahihirap na pamilya sa kanayunan. Sa ilalim ng programa ang mga batang beneficiaries ay sasailalim din sa deworming sa simula ng pamimigay ng fortified rice. (ac agad PIA 12) [top]
