USEP offers "Master of Education in Instructional Leadership" course

Davao City (25 March) -- The University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) College of Education offers Master of Education in Instructional Leadership that provides teachers and instructional leaders with advanced course study at the Masteral level aimed at increasing their knowledge and skills in the management and organization of a progressive curriculum delivered in a manner than improves student outcomes.

Gracing the "Rotary Shares on the Air", a regular weekly radio forum project of the Rotary Club East Davao, Dr. Filomeno A. Gargar said the Instructional Leadership Masteral consists of three major areas that capture the Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao (BEAM) approach and the current teaching and paradigm in the College of Education.

The current teaching includes: foundational knowledge; excellence in teaching and learning; and supportive environment.

The Excellence in Teaching and Learning constitutes the major subjects the major theme of the award which consists of the body of knowledge and skills required to design and manage the teaching and learning approach developed by BEAM and validated in schools across regions XI, XII and ARMM.

The mode of delivery will be e-learning blended with distance education and traditional methods of delivery.

It will be delivered in a distance education mode using the CD-ROM developed by Mindanao e-learning Space. It is a blended delivery since courses will involve at least three face-to-face sessions and some courses will involve coursework of fieldwork depending on the nature of the subject matter.

This mode is advantageous to students since they don't have to travel every weekend to attend classes and will be most advantageous to students who live far from the city.

Professors can post discussions in the discussion board and assignments be submitted through email. Questions raised by students can be sent through email text messaging, or the learning management system to the professors.

Each student enrolled in this course will be provided with a CD-ROM containing the course contents, formative examinations and learners guide where students can learn at their own pace and in their own time. (PIA) [top]
