Butuan City (August 4) -- Caraga's first-ever Botika ng Bayan finally opens here in Butuan. The endeavor initiated by the Pharmazaua group headed by General Manager Carlo Sanchez held its grand opening last Friday (August 1) at Mancao Square Building, San Jose Street, Barangay Urduja, this city.
Botika ng Bayan is one of the anti-poverty programs of the Arroyo administration. It aims to provide cheap but quality medicine to the public. In this program, medicines are sold at almost half the price compared to those sold in commercial pharmacies.
"Botika ng Bayan is one of PGMA's programs to fight poverty. It is part of PGMA's Labanan ang Kahirapan program. BnB provides an alternative venue for the poor to avail of cheaper and more affordable medicines," General Manager Carlo Sanchez said during the opening.
"Botika ng Bayan offers cheaper medicines than commercial pharmacies. I invite the public to exploit this opportunity," added Sanchez.
"I always feel that opening up Botika ng Bayan is a public service. I think it's a better way to help people. With this program, they can just come here to buy medicines without feeling the burden of expending too much on medicines," stressed Sanchez.
Along with the grand opening celebration of Botika ng Bayan is a three-day free clinic for the public that started from August 1to 3 at 6:30 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon. The public availed of Fasting Blood Sugar Test, BP, and free consultation.
Botika ng Bayan is open to serve the public from Mondays to Sundays at 8:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening.
City Vice Mayor Dino Claudio Sanchez, City Councilor Raul Amoc, and Association of Barangay Council (ABC) President Sabeniano Olandria also shows support to the Pharmazaua group and appreciate their effort of initiating it here in the city. (PIA-Caraga) [top]
