NMMC celebrates National Hospital Week, Aug. 4-9

by Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob

Cagayan de Oro City (5 August) -- The Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) will continue to live up to its mandate as a hospital-based health care institution tasked to be more responsive and relevant to the public it serves.

Thus assured Jose C. Chan, M.D. during a media forum at the opening of this year's National Hospital Week celebration where he was formally introduced as the NMMC Chief vice Evelyn Clarete, M.D. who retired from government service recently.

A Masters in Hospital Administration (MHA) graduate, among his other credentials, Chan said NMMC will continue to be a center for wellness and excellence as a training center of 11 programs/specialties which are fully accredited by specialty boards.

As a level IV health facility, it provides the highest attainable health care in the region 10 and the neighboring regions, provinces and municipalities in support of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's campaign of Labanan ang Kahirapan (Fight Poverty).

It is also committed to give the most comprehensive, efficient, quality-driven and clinically effective services in the region with the sustenance of promotive, preventive primary health care programs.

"As we move forward to continue what our predecessors had started, and with the present framework of Fourmula 1 for Health, we take the challenge to deliver affordable, equitable and quality, specialized and general services to our clients - the patients especially the poor," Chan said.

Also included in its framework is the improvement of research on clinical priorities and training of future specialists to guide NMMC to attain its vision of providing the highest health care services in the region.

Meanwhile, coinciding with the NHW, NMMC, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary, this year, has lined up the following activities with the theme "Towards Better Health Service:"
