Oro Katarungang Pambarangay acts on 1,931 cases in 2nd quarter
Cagayan de Oro City (5 August) -- A TOTAL of 1,931 cases were filed and acted upon by the Katarungan Pambaranggay of Cagayan de Oro City's 80 barangays during the 2nd quarter this year.
Raul H. Sabuero, officer-in-charge of the Mayor's Community Affairs Division, disclosed in his quarterly report to the City Mayor Constantino Jaraula that out of the 1,931 cases filed, 869 cases are criminal in nature; 849 are civil and 213 are classified as other cases.
Of the total figure, 1,129 cases were settled through mediation; 803 on conciliation and 290 on arbitration while 408 cases were dismissed, 198 cases were certified, 195 are pending and one repudiated, Sabuero added.
The program aims to lessen the congestion of cases filed in court and allow barangay justice system to work in settling the disputes through an out-of-court or amicable settlement. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
