Echo seminar-workshop on RP folk dances conducted in Tangub City
Cagayan de Oro City (5 August) -- AN echo seminar-workshop on Philippine folk dances was conducted in Tangub City, Misamis Occiental at Sinanduloy Cultural Center, July 23-27.
Jointly sponsored by the City Government, Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe, and Department of Education (DepEd), the seminar was participated in by teachers, choreographers and trainers from eleven City DepEd Divisions in Mindanao: Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur, Bukidnon, Gingoog, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Iligan, Lanao del Norte, Ozamiz, Oroquieta, and Tangub City.
Workshop activities included learning of published and unpublished dances. Lecture demonstrations, street dance, cultural shows, and a culminating dance were showcased by the participants.
Folkdances taught during the seminar were Paseo De Narciso (Zambales); Habasinan (Pangasinan); Escala (Misamis Occidental); Jota Ha Kalipay (Samar); Las Panderitas (Iloilo); Dagit-dagit (Capiz); Saut sa Rarug (Iloilo); Oasioas (Pangasinan); Lanceros de Lingayen (Pangasinan).
Josephine B. Guillen Philippine Folk Dance Society (PFDS) president and Franco M. Velas, PFDS treasurer, taught one dance each.
Emilio"Jojin" Pascual, Sinanduloy director/choreographer of SCT, discussed Production Elements.
