4 schools chosen as recipients of BCWD's Bisita Eskwela

Butuan City (5 August) -- Butuan City Water District (BCWD) representatives visited four schools that were chosen as recipients of Bisita Eskwela, namely, Timber City Academy (Elementary), Taligaman National High School, Taguibo Elementary School, and Sunrise Christian College (High School) on July 30-31 2008.

A number of attendees joined the said activity on July 30 - 83 pupils in grades four, five and six from Timber City Academy and 214 selected students from Taligaman National High School. On July 31, a total of 94 grades four, five and six pupils from Taguibo Elementary School and 106 students from Sunrise Christian College also joined the event.

Topics regarding BCWD and its operations were presented that include the BCWD History, From the Source to your Tap, Hydrologic Cycle, Watershed, Installation of New Service Connections, Calibration of Water Meters, Leak Detection, How to read your Water Meters, PSION Workabout, and How to compute your Water Bill. Each topic was discussed thoroughly by the respective assigned speakers from different divisions of the district. Moreover, the discussions were geared toward increasing the awareness level of the participants regarding water and their local water provider.

As part of the visit, the team from BCWD distributed tokens in the form of kits containing school materials and leaflets about BCWD and Water Saving Tips.

The quarterly Bisita Eskwela of BCWD is just one of the numerous activities of BCWD's Water Education and Advocacy Program.
