Masbate policeman is 2008 COPS awardee
Legazpi City (5 Aug) -- Congratulations to the 10 awardees of the 2008 Country Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) search who got P200,000 in cash prize, a trophy and a personal audience with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo last Friday, August 1.
Among the 2008 COPS awardees is PO3 Dandy G. Ferriol, investigator of the Masbate City Police Station.
Ferriol, who was also named Investigator of the Year during the anniversary celebrations of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, was instrumental in the solution of the controversial killing of the late Masbate Mayor Moises Espinosa.
Aside from Ferriol, the other winners selected from more than 100 applicants by a formidable panel of judges, included Police Supt. Jonathan G. Calixto, Supt. Ronald O. Lee, Supt. Raynold A. Rosero, Supt. Alex B. Sintin, SPO1 Annie Maria A. Anuary, SPO2 Oscar P. Bandoy, SPO2 Josefina L. Lacandula, SPO1 Eman M. Orivida and PO3 Anna Liza R. Reyes.
The COPs awardees are considered as the police force's cream of the crop, having undergone a stringent selection process from nominations received nationwide. This included clearances from the Commission on Human Rights, National Bureau of Investigation, and a panel interview with the distinguished Board of Judges representing various sectors of the community.
At the awarding rites, Philippine National Police Director-General Avelino I. Razon saluted the 2008 COPs awardees who are "the epitome of what a real Mamang Pulis should be: God-fearing, humane, presentable and approachable.
The annual search is spearheaded by the Metrobank Foundation, Inc., Rotary Club of New Manila East, PSBank and the PNP to recognize the valor, gallantry and integrity of the police community. (PRO5) [top]
