Region 8 creates TWG for incoming sports fest

Tacloban City (6 August) -- The Region Eight Administrators League (REAL) an organization composed of regional directors or head of government offices here in Region 8 under its president Flordelis Menzon, Manager of Pag-ibig, is busy preparing for the activities that will be lined-up for the incoming REAL sports fest.

According to Samuel A. Young, Regional Director, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and sports coordinator of REAL during the meeting at NTC conference area, held yesterday that the meeting is aimed to have a smooth flow of scheduling of games and advance information to all government agencies to participate and choose their best athlete who will compete during the sports fest.

Director Young further discussed that he want to foster camaraderie and sprit de corps among his fellow government workers to relieve them from the tension of their respective work place and to show good cause by providing activities that will ease the burden of economic difficulties thru sports as embodied under the civil service rules.

The formal opening of this activity will coincide with the civil service month that will be celebrated every month of September of every calendar year, he said.

Director Young as the REAL sports coordinator made proposal to create a Technical Working Group (TWG) that will foresee and craft internal rules and regulations pertaining to sports activities and eligibility of players.

Director Young clarified that the eligibility of players are those bona fide employee of the agency to which he represents whose term of office is not below three years and continuous in the case of casual or contractual as determined by the civil service, he said.

The sports activities will be done during designated official time from Monday to Friday, Dir. Young said.

The following games that is available during sports fest are badminton, basketball, chess, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis and volleyball, participating agency should send their players at an earliest possible time to finalize the scheduling of games lot of prizes are at stake during the event.
