More bangus fry distributed to help Cosme-hit fisherfolk
Dagupan City (6 August) -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) distributed some two million bangus fry to fisherfolk from six towns of Pangasinan on Wednesday as part of the national government's effort to help fisherfolk affected by killer typhoon Cosme last May 17.
Nestor Domenden, regional director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), said beneficiaries of the fry were fish farm operators from the town of Lingayen, Bugallon, Sual, San Fabian, Mangaldan and Agno.
Another distribution was held Thursday in Dagupan wgere 2.5 million bangus fry were given to fish farmers from Dagupan, Calasiao and Labrador. A composite team from different government agencies, aided by local government units, validated the beneficiariesAffected fish farm operators from Sto. Tomas, Agoo and Aringay in La Union province were also given two million bangus fry.
Of the bangus fry distributed, at least one million bangus were donated by suppliers from Sarangani province.Domenden said this is the second batch of the bangus fry distributed in Pangasinan.
