Oro mayor calls on Cagayanons to support "Pinoy Idol" top 5 finalist from CdeO

Cagayan de Oro City (6 August) -- Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula yesterday called on all Cagayanons to support a homegrown young singer who is vying to land on top in a nationwide talent search sponsored by a giant television network.

Mayor Jaraula is referring to 25-year old rock singer Ram Chaves, a native of Cagayan de Oro City, who is currently one of the Top Five finalists of GMA Television Network's popular reality-based talent search "Pinoy Idol".

The city mayor appealed for mass support from the residents of Cagayan de Oro after Ramon Chaves Jr., Ram's father, sought Mayor Jaraula's public endorsement that will hopefully pave the way for Ram's survival in the elimination round of the nationwide singing contest.

Mayor Jaraula expressed optimism that Ram's chances to bring home the coveted title will surely get a boost with the strong support of the fellow Cagayanons through public text voting.

The city chief executive stressed that it would be a big honor and pride for Cagayan de Oro City if the Cagayanon singer will come out as the first-ever grand winner of this year's edition of "Pinoy Idol".

It was learned that two out of the Top Five finalists will be voted out in the contest during the show's elimination night on Sunday, August 10, 2008 while the Top Three contestants will fight it out to grab the show's top honor as "Pinoy Idol".

Ram Chaves is one of the more than 20,000 hopefuls all over the country who successfully hurdled a nationwide audition and eventually landed as one of the Top 24 contestants who were selected in May this year.

To vote for Ram Chaves, text IDOLRAM and send to 367 for Smart and TalkNText subscribers and 2344 for Globe, TM and Sun users.

Voting time starts 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008 until 12:00 noon on Sunday, August 10, 2008. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
