DOST offers SME scholarships

Davao City (13 August) -- For academic year 2008-2009, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Science Education Institute (SEI) announces the availability of scholarships in Science and Mathematics Education (SME) FOR Masters and PhD.

DOST OIC Eduardo Tesorero said the DOST-SEI created a consortium among four universities in Visayas and Mindanao to establish common quality graduate programs in SME and accelerate the development of a critical mass of experts in SME.

The member universities of the consortium are: West Visayas State University in Iloilo City, University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City and Mindanao State University in Marawi.

The scholarships is open to all DOST scholar-graduates and to those graduates with academic honors.

Applicants must have at least two years teaching experience in science and mathematics and must be a resident of Visayas or Mindanao.

Field of specialization must be in Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

For interested applicants, contact Ms. Mavik Dado at DOST regional office at Bajada, Davao City or email at www.sei.dost.gov.ph.
