'Pisay' the movie in Davao
Davao City (13 August) -- 'Pisay' is directed by Auraeus Solito, whose first full-length film, Ang pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, won Urian Best Picture the other year. It tells the story of the Philippine Science High School's Batch '86, from their freshman year up to graduation. The movie is shot entirely within the Philippine Science High School Diliman Campus compound and is set within the first half of the '80s when there was so much political upheaval in the Philippines.
In this film you get to see what life is like for Pisay students – how they cope with the high standards set by the school as well as the victories, failures and awakening they have to undergo as they struggle through personal, social and political issue. On the lighter side, we also see the Pisay students experiencing young love, sporting the Bagets look, partying and having fun. In short, "Pisay" shows that the people there are just like anybody who also hurt and get disappointed like the rest of us.
Thru the initiative of PSHS-Parents-Teachers Association, "Pisay" will be shown at SM Davao Cinema 1 for one day, which will be on August 22, 2008, Friday. Matinee show will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and evening show from 7:30-9:30 in the evening. For ticket reservation, you may call PSHS-SMC PTA/Foundation Office at telephone number 293-1928.
