Gordon pushes for add'l budget for Comelec for full automation of 2010 national polls
Manila (13 August) -- Senator Richard Gordon on Monday said that he will push for additional budget of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the automation of the 2010 national elections after the success of the automated polls in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Sen. Gordon, who authored the automated election law, claimed that although the government is expected to spend P4 billion for this undertaking, this will ensure fraud-free polls.
Gordon added the scenarios of accusing fraud will not emerge and the Comelec will only hear cases of violations of election laws.
The lawmaker also asked the Comelec not to retrieve the computer machines being used in the ARMM elections and let the students utilize the machines to refrain from huge storage fee that the poll body will shoulder for the machines. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
