Navy conducts 'Pagsasama 2008' in Bohol
Tagbilaran City (13 August) -- Members of the Philippine Navy regular force and the reservists successfully conducted the Philippine Navy's Exercise Pagsasama 2008 in Bohol recently.
The exercise aimed to develop disaster, emergency assistance and rescue skills among the reservists as well as to foster camaraderie and rapport to the Boholanos who were recipients of the different Engineering Civic Action Program (ENCAP) projects, Medical-Dental Mission and Operation Tuli.
Almost two thousand Boholanos from the municipalities of Panglao and Loay availed of the free medical/dental check-up, operation tuli and medicines courtesy of the Philippine Navy headed by the Flag Officer In Command, VADM Rogelio Calunsag AFP, and assisted by incumbent Commander of Naval Forces Central, Capt. Honorio Robert Balanon.
Several Botika ng Barangay units were also constructed to benefit the residents of Barangay Tawala of Dauis, Barangay Poblacion of Panglao and Barangays Alegria and Hinawanan of Loay.
The acting Governor of Bohol, Julius Ceasar Hererra, was the Guest of Honor during the culminating ceremony last July 22, 2008 and subsequently received the above-mentioned ENCAP projects.
Furthermore, medical equipment and school supplies donated by the DOH and GSIS respectively were also turned over to the government of Bohol and LGU's during the said ceremony. (PIA-Cebu/HFG) [top]
