Butuan City (13 August) -- As one of the essential strategies of the province's Executive – Legislative Agenda, a develop-ment planning workshop for all barangays in the province is being conducted this month until August.
The provincial government initiated a participatory approach of planning where community people and civil society organizations meet to discuss and identify development issues and concerns and the corresponding programs and projects using the data generated from the community-based management system.
Dubbed as Participatory Initiative in Governance or simply PING, it is evidence-based and needs-based planning process involving multi-faceted phases that puts into operation an efficient and effective poverty reduction mechanism and ensures alignment of programs and projects with that of the province.
PING also enhances the capacity of barangay planners as they have to identify programs and projects in four development perspective: social, economic, environmental and governance. It is within these sectors that an infrastructure needs are identified. (PGO-Agusan del Norte/PIA-Caraga) [top]
