Caraga barangay officials to undergo workshop
Butuan City (13 August) -- A total of 1,715 barangay officials, business sectors and civil society organizations all over the province of Agusan del Norte will undergo planning/workshop on the third quarter of this year. This was contained in a memorandum of agreement between the provincial government and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The Provincewide Development Planning/Workshop primarily aims to guide barangay officials in the coming up of a comprehensive Barangay Development Plan for the year 2009 that will likewise be adopted by the province as part of its Comprehensive Development Plan as mandated by the local government code.
"This will provide necessary support for the effective project implementation in accordance with the Executive and Legislative Agenda of the res-pective LGUs in the province", Federation of the Association of Barangay Council (FABC) President Raymundo M. Beluan, Jr. said, author of a resolution that will ensure that everything is in place before the conduct of the said activity. He said that this will be a collaboration of the local leaders and development partners from the provincial and municipal government and other national agencies to provide direction for the growth and development of the barangays.
The provincial government will spearhead the logistical arrangements for the conduct of the Barangay Development Plan, related meetings and training workshop in the province and shall also provide technical assistance.
DILG, likewise, shall provide consultancy and technical assistance in the implementation of the program and also ensure the participation of the identified barangay officials and Barangay Development Council members.
Specifically, the activity aims to identify development issues and concerns to achieve the goals and objectives of the Executive and Legislative Agenda for the next three years and strengthen the capability of barangay officials to develop and implement policies, programs and projects.
