Tagalog News: High-level support laban sa illegal wildlife trade - ASEAN Secgen

Jakarta (13 August) -- Nanawagan si ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Surin Pitsuwan ng high-level support upang tugunan ang banta sa ASEAN biodiversity laban sa illegal wildlife trade.

Dahil dito isang high-level international conference ang isasagawa sa susunod na taon upang talakayin ang pagpapa-igting sa implementasyon ng mga hakbang para sa enforcement ng wildlife laws sa buong Southeast Asia.

Binigyang-diin din ni Pitsuwan ang kahalagahan ng pagtaguyod sa public awareness lalo na sa conservations issue maging ang pakikipagtulungan ng international community, donors at NGOs sa ASEAN Wildlife Enforcement Network (ASEAN-WEN) na may layong pangalagaan ang natitirang natural resources ng rehiyon.

Ang ASEAN-WEN ay isang inter-governmental initiative na tumutulong sa ASEAN government upang labanan ang anu mang wildlife crime. Ito rin ay itinuturing na world's largest wildlife law enforcement network na binubuo ng sampung ASEAN member states na nakikipagtulungan din sa United States at bansang China.
