Ombudsman to bring "Caravan of Government Services" to Pototan
Iloilo City (14 August) -- The Ombudsman Regional Office VI will celebrate their second anniversary in the region by bringing a pool of government services in the municipality of Pototan, Iloilo on August 21, 2008.
The activity dubbed as "Ombudsman Caravan of Government Services" will kick-off with a motorcade starting at the Ombudsman Regional Office VI at the CAP Building in General Luna St. of this city.
Evangeline Nunal, Associate Graft Investigation Officer I said that around 26 government agencies have been invited to join the caravan.
Tanodbayan Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez is expected to give a special message during the program that will be held at the Pototan Coliseum. She will be joined by Assistant Ombudsman for the Visayas Virginia Palanca Santiago and Deputy Ombudsman Pelagio Apostol.
Aside from the service booths of the participating government agencies where the people may consult or avail of government programs and services, a medical mission will also be conducted during the day.
Nunal said on the same day, a committee was assigned to do relief operations in Brgy. Cauayan, Pototan where 300 bags of relief goods will be distributed to identified victims of typhoon "frank" in the said barangay.
"The Caravan of Government Services project was launched by the Ombudsman with the aim to bring the government closer to the people," said Nunal.
Antiquenos were the first recipients of the project in Western Visayas as a similar activity was conducted at the EBJ Memorial Auditorium, Del. Angel Salazar Memorial School in San Jose, Antique last April 4, 2008. (PIA) [top]
