Non-working holidays set on August 18, 25
Dumaguete City (14 August) -- August 18 has been declared a special non-working holiday in the country.
In Proc. No. 1463 issued by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Feb. 25 this year, August 18 has been set as a special non-working holiday as it is the Monday nearest August 21, which is Ninoy Aquino Day.
On the other hand, August 25, being the last Monday of August, is a regular holiday in observance of National Heroes' Day.
Pres. Arroyo has earlier issued Proc. No. 1463 setting the specific dates of movable holidays as for year 2008 as mandated by RA 9492 which rationalized the celebration of the country's holidays.
Meanwhile, Pres. Arroyo has declared the following dates as special non-working days in five cities, one municipality and one province:
Aug. 15, Tuguegarao; Aug. 20, Lucena; Aug. 30, Mandaue; Aug. 22, Davao; Aug. 28, Cagayan de Oro; Aug. 19, municipality of Angono, Rizal, and Sept. 2 in Albay province.
