Pastor shot dead in Ifugao

Banaue, Ifugao (15 August) -- A pastor was shot dead when a drunken person indiscriminately fired his M 16 rifle afternoon of August 12 here.
Report obtained from the Provincial Police Command identified the suspect as James Dinanghay, 23 and a resident of Sitio Liwang of Barangay Ibayong here,
The report disclosed that the suspect arrived home under the influence of liquor and without any apparent reason, brought out an M-16 rifle and fired at the vehicle with plate number SJR 704 which was parked a few meters away from their house.
Barangay Kagawad Frederick Maguiling and Pastor Marvin Osao of the Pentecostal Church, who were then sitting inside the tricycle that was parked a few meters away from the house of the suspect were alarmed.
Maguiling tried to pacify the suspect by shouting at him to stop the firing. However, Dinanghay ignored him and pointed the rifle at them and started firing that them hitting the victim.
Dinanghay ran away to the forested mountain carrying the M 16 rifle while firing four times while Maguiling brought the victim to the Good News Hospital with the aid of some residents. Osao was later transferred to the Ifugao General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Dianghay later surrendered to the Banaue Police Station after the policemen negotiated with his relatives for him to surrender. Dinanghay is currently imprisoned at the provincial PNP Command in Lagawe. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
