Mindanao biz leaders urge on sustainable responsible investments

Davao City (21 August) -- Business leaders in Mindanao are advocating to investors in the island to undertake more sustaining projects than just launching an event that they attribute to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Vicente T. Lao, Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) chair said they would rather come up with projects that are sustaining and not a short-term activity.
He said they are subscribing to sustainable responsible investment (SRI) which is a step higher than the CSR.
"With the SRI they could help people in community through livelihood projects initiated by companies to improve their means of living," he said.
He said the MinBC will try to document projects of companies that would involve sustainable projects.
Right now he said they will be embarking the "Honeybee Project" with poor families in Mindanao.
"We will be piloting this project and it will be in coordination with the Department of Agriculture," he said.
He said the objective is to help in the country's poverty alleviation program. (PIA) [top]
