PBA guests at PBAU opening

Koronadal City (21 August) -- One of the activities marking the birthday of Mayor Pedro B. Acharon, Jr. was the blessing of the city's Protection Para sa Babae at Anak Unit (PBAU) located at the 2nd floor of the Social Development Center inside the City Social Welfare & Development Office compound.

Mayor Jun and Dra. Rose Acharon led the simple opening ceremony of the new one stop shop facility established by the city government through the CSWDO headed by Ms. Rebecca V. Magante. This facility is intended for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

According to Ms. Perla Amparado, Assistant Department Head of CSWDO, PBAU is equipped with the modern state of the art facility. There is a queing room where victims are assessed and physical needs are determined. There's also a therapy room for counseling and therapy sessions are conducted as well as conduct of forensic interview, medical examination and provision of other crisis intervention.

Ms. Beng Batilong, CAO IV, also disclosed that they have purchased medical equipments like medical chair, stethoscope and sphygmomanometer, installed a one-way mirror, video cam, digital camera, computers, televisions set and other equipment that would facilitate interview of victims.

She added that the PBAU will be manned by different members of the therapeutic team composed of livability cluster partners, personnel coming from the City Health Office, CIDG, PNP, NBI, Psychologist, Psychiatrist and Social Workers.

Prior to the opening, Mayor Jun also led the ceremonial release of F.R.A.M.E. Educational Assistance to poor beneficiaries. F.R.A.M.E. is a Poverty-Based Agenda: P.E.T. (Peoples Empowerment for Transformation). (CPIO/PIA 12) [top]
