Image of Our Lady of Charity
In Siquijor, Siquijor the image was welcomed by a huge crowed headed by Msgr. Larry Catubig, parish priest of St. Francis of Assisi parish, Knights of Columbus Council 6129, PNP personnel from all stations in the province, different religious organizations and parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi parish. Despite rain and strong winds, the crowed excitedly met the icon at the gangplank of Delta I and short procession followed going to St Francis of Assisi church where a blessing of the framed image was done.
A mass in honor of Our Lady of Charity was heard at 5:30 in the afternoon with Msgr. Larry Catubig as celebrant. A vigil followed right after the mass with a 30 minute interval rosary offered by religious organizations to include the Knights of Columbus as main hosts of Our Lady of Charity's visit. Out Lady of Charity now comes to Knights of Columbus nationwide or around the world as we turn to her maternal intercession in our Marian Prayer Program. Although the Virgin of Charity has his origin in Cuba, devotion to her is altogether appropriate for the Knights of Columbus due to our first principle of charity.
The image is toured in every parish of the country in order to bring us all to a greater understanding of the virtue of charity and inspire us to carry Christ's love to the world. (PIA) [top]
