Panabo exec activates Rat Patrol
by Johny Lee Perez
Panabo City (29 August) -- City Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. organized elite mobile team named Rat Patrol to compliment the peace and order campaign of the Philippine National Police.
The team is composed of a police officer as team leader, Civil Security Unit personnel, police auxiliary rifleman as tail scout and traffic auxiliary as the moving Land Transportation Office enforcer.
Rat Patrol provides visibility of uniformed personnel in highly crime prone areas, as well as in commercial centers of the city. It stays from one area to another to surprise or preempt any criminal intent.
The patrol is conceptualized based on the saying, "prevention is better than cure." The absence of crime is the best barometer of crime prevention rather crime solution.
Rat Patrol is most of the time stationary and may move only when it is necessary. It can assist the police in cases of emergency only. (LGU-Panabo/PIA XI) [top]
