FITS Siquijor booth named Region's best

Province of Siquijor (29 August) -- FITS Siquijor won the "Best FITS Booth Award" from among 43 FITS Centers in Region 7 during the FITSTIVAL held on August 18-19, 2008 at NORSU Campus in Pamplona, Negros Oriental.
The booth contest was just one of the many activities in the 21st anniversary of the Central Visayas Consortium for Integrated Regional Research & Development (CVCIRRD). The FITS Siquijor showcased agricultural products from farmer scientists in the province. The board of judges appreciates the presentation of FITS Siquijor showcasing peanut harvest from the MS down to processing into different peanut products. It showed the chain effect from farming, harvesting, processing, packaging and marketing of said products.
Other activities are R & D Symposium, Farmer's Field Day, Harvest Festival and Techno Forum, all of which aim to harness the potential of the farmers as key players in local and regional trade and help them realize that agriculture is an enterprise from which they can derive larger incomes that they are encouraged to take the plunge to entrepreneurship.
FITS Center gives the farmers great opportunities access new information to help them achieve a better quality of life by helping them improve their products. (FITS Center/PIA) [top]
