Cagayan de Oro City (29 August) -- Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo formally opened and turned-over newly completed barangay health stations and a day care center in two towns in Camiguin province last August 26.
Inaugurated and turned over to municipal chief executives were the Barangay Health Station of Hubangon in Mahinog town and the Barangay Health Station and Day Care Center of Alanginan in Sagay town.
Constructed under the provincial government's Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) project, the Barangay Health Stations were built at a cost of P200,000 each, and the Day Care Center at a cost of P150,000.
The P20.6-million ECCD in Camiguin is a special partnership with the National Council for the Welfare of Children (NCWC) and financed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCor) under an 80% (NCWC)-20% (LGU) sharing scheme.
Gov. Romualdo, in his speech, stressed the vital importance of the projects, especially in promoting the health and basic education of children.
He urged parents to always encourage their children to go to school to be successful in the future.
Romualdo also exhorted parents to discourage their teenagers from joining shady groups or organizations as these might lead them to prohibited drugs and other bad vices that would take away their bright future.
The ceremonies were witnessed by Provincial Board Member Hermogenes B. Lobido, SP committee on social services chairman; members of the provincial, municipal and barangay ECCD coordinating committees; Sagay Mayor Domingo K. Talian; and barangay chairmen.
