Zambo City to host 3rd "RP Towns and Cities" seminar

Zamboanga City (4 November) -- The city will host this year's seminar on "Philippine Towns and Cities: Reflections of the Past, Lessons for the Future," an undertaking spearheaded by the Heritage Conservation Society (HCS) aimed to promote civic commitments on the care and utilization of heritage resources.

Now on its third year, the seminar, slated for Saturday, November 8 at the Garden Orchid Hotel is a "communications campaign to influence policy makers at the local government level."

The activity will bring together chief executives and other local government officials from different cities and provinces in the country.

The mayors' forum, a session where local government chief executives will share best practices on heritage conservation and preservation, will be the main highlight of the day-long event. It will be followed by case study presentations.

The mayors' forum will be participated by Zamboanga's very own Mayor Celso Lobregat; Dagupan City Mayor Alipio Fernandez; Loon, Bohol Mayor Lloyd Peter Lopez and Cotabato City Mayor Datu Muslimin Sema, Al Hadj.

It can be recalled, the first seminar on Philippine Towns and Cities was held in Pasig City in 2006 while the second was held in Ilo-Ilo City in 2007. (CIO/PIA ZC) [top]
