2008 Housing Fair offers over 10,000 properties nationwide

by A. Lumaque

Roxas City (4 November) -- The three-day Housing Fair conducted last October 29 to 31 has offered over 10,000 properties nationwide like residential lots, house and lot packages and condominium units at discounted prices.

The properties were also purchased through low interest loans.

Sold on an "as is, where is" basis were the foreclosed properties of participating government financing institutions (GFIs) and shelter agencies Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC), Pag-IBIG Fund, National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Social Security System (SSS), and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

During the fair, Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairman Noli "Kabayan" De Castro answered queries from participants at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 1 and 2 in Mandaluyong City.

The fair was open to government workers, private sector employees and overseas Filipino workers in line with the government efforts to make housing truly affordable and accessible to ordinary workers.

This year, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Memorandum Circular 160 directing the conduct of yearly Housing Fairs as part of the National Shelter Month celebrated every October. (HUDCC/PIA) [top]
