Government troops on hot pursuit of communist terrorists
ICC Kidapawan City (4 November) -- Elements of the 57th Infantry Battalion under the 602nd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army are conducting pursuit operations against communist terrorists who attacked a CAFGU detachment at Barangay Luna Sur, Makilala, North Coatabato on October 28.
Col. Alejandro Estomo, 602nd brigade Commander said as an offshoot a three and one-half hour firefight ensued on November 3, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at sitio Talahik, Barangay Bacung, Tulunan, North Cotabato wounding PFC Ramil Flores and undetermined member on the enemy side.
Col. Estomo he further said, the pursuit operations against the communist terrorists started when some thirty (30) of their members attacked a CAFGU detachment on October 28 killing a CAFGU member and wounding a soldier and one civilian at Luna Sur, Makilala, North Cotabato, according to Lt. Col. Julieto Ando, spokesperson, 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Shariff Kabunsuan.
Col. Estomo disclosed that the communist attackers used 60MM mortar and carted away some firearms of the CAFGUs manning the Detachment.
He revealed that the pursuit operation are on going to capture the communist terrorists whom he said, belong to 72 Guerilla Front operating in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat and Tulunan, North Cotabato. (PIA 12) [top]
