DOLE Caravan of Services targets Passi City barangays
Iloilo City (5 November) -- Residents of Brgy. Man-it and other neighboring villages in Passi City will be the targets of the caravan of services spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment 6 (DOLE) tomorrow, November 6, 2008.
DOLE Iloilo-Provincial Head Filomeno Sonza said the Caravan of Services is among the various activities lined-up by its regional office to mark the department's 75th Anniversary this year.
This third stop of the Caravan of Services will be held at Brgy. Man-it Covered Gym. It kicked off last Tuesday in Brgy. Jovellar, Igbaras and proceeded to Brgy. Rizal, Buenavista in Guimaras province on Wednesday.
Included in the services during the one-day event will be a job fair. Participants will also have the opportunity to know the programs, projects and services of the different key line government agencies that participate in the activity.
Joining the DOLE in this caravan of services are the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Regional Tripartite Productivity and Wages Board, National Labor Relations Commission, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and Professional Regulatory Commission.
Sonza said a lecture on occupational safety will also be conducted by the DOLE especially for the beneficiaries of the Shoe, Sandal and Slippers Making project being proposed by the local government of Passi City with the DOLE as their livelihood project for their informal sector.
The DOLE is also set to bring the caravan of services, which aimed to bring government services closer to the grassroots, in other villages of the different provinces of the region.
The caravan's next stop will be in Brgy. Fonda, San Jose on November 11 and Poblacion, Barbaza, the next day, all in the province of Antique.
In Capiz, it will be conducted in the municipality of Dao on November 19 and in Roxas City on December 20 while in the province of Negros Occidental it will be held in Brgy. Bato, Sagay on November 19 and in Kabankalan City on a date yet to be announced.
For the province of Aklan, it will be held in New Washington on November 25 and Ibajay on November 26.
