NPA still in cahoots with MILF, says Army official

ICC Iligan City (5 November) -- The New Peoples' Army (NPA) had an alliance with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) since 2003.

This was confirmed by Lt. Col. Agane Adriatico, Civil Military Operations (CMO) Chief, G7, First Infantry Division (IID), Philippine Army, during a recent press briefing at the Information Command Center, (ICC), Philippine Information Agency, this city.

Adriatico said immediately after the Aug.18 atrocities, Ka Oris of the NPA came out with a pronouncement that they are going to support the MILF in conducting offensive operations against the military.

Aside from that, our government troops who are conducting law enforcement operations pursuing the lawless MILF group (LMG) in the Lanao provinces have found documents in abandoned LMG camps that the NPA's are still in cahoots with the MILF, he said.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has assured the residents of the Lanao provinces that it is ready to meet such offensive action to be conducted by the left-leaning groups and the MILF.

Adriatico also clarified that the AFP knows their plans and always prepared and ready to address any eventuality that the purging of the two rebel groups may result. (DJR/PIA 10) [top]
