NDCC releases P10,000 assistance to all dead civilian victims of LMG

ICC Iligan City (5 November) -- All the civilian victims who died during the Aug. 18 atrocities committed by the lawless MILF group (LMG) in Lanao del Norte have been covered by the financial assistance provided by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC).

Thus revealed Ana Caņeda, provincial coordinator of Office of Civil Defense (OCD) region 10, during a recent media briefing at the Information Command Center (ICC), Philippine Information Agency, this city.

Caņeda said NDCC through OCD-10 has already released the financial assistance of Php10,000 individual checks to the beneficiaries of all the 38 civilian victims who died during the Aug. 18, 2008 LMG attack in Kauswagan and Kolambugan, both coastal towns of the province.

Likewise, OCD-10 was able to release the Php5,000 financial assistance for each of only 21 out of the 66 persons who were injured during the incident.

"This is because the other 45 injured still need to complete their documents for processing, such as, medical certificate, police blotters and certificate of residency from the LGU concerned, among others," Caņeda said.

Once these requirements are complied with and submitted to us, OCD-10 will immediately forward it to NDCC so that the financial assistance intended for the injured victims will be released, she assured. (OSM-Radyo ng Bayan) [top]
