Commuters in Region 8 also enjoy P.50 provisional fare reduction

Tacloban City (November 5) -- The commuters in Region 8 are also entitled to the P.50 fare reduction in Public Utility Jitney which also includes the multicab which is common in the Region, Atty. Manuel Reynaldo Martillo, the Legal Officer of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Regional Office 8 informed.

The minimum fare reduction took effect at 11:00 o'clock in the morning of November 5, Atty. Martillo said. This means that if the current minimum fare in Tacloban City is P7.50, under the new fare adjustment, this will become P7.00.

When reached by the Philippine Information Agency, Atty. Martillo said that LTFRB Regional Office 8 has received the copy of the LTFRB Order from the LTFRB Central Office.

Item 3 under the terms and conditions of the order, it was stipulated that "for Public Utility Jitney (PUJ) services in all other regions, the provisional fare reduction of Fifty Centavos shall be deducted to their present fare rate for the first four kilometers/first five kilometers."

In the case of Provincial Public Utility Buses, the provisional reduction is Fifty Centavos for PUB Ordinary Buses, and the provisional reduction of One Peso for the actual fare for PUB Air-Conditioned Buses.

Both the fare reduction for PUJ and PUB shall be effective nationwide, the same Order stipulated.

All Public Utility Bus and Public Utility Jitney services are directed to grant to qualified senior citizens utilizing their services a fare discount of not less than 20% of the provisionally reduced fare upon presentation of their senior citizens Identification Card.

Moreover, students are entitled to a student fare discount of not less than 20% of the provisionally adjusted fares everyday, during school days, upon presentation of their ID cards or Registration Cards.
