Be extra vigilant, CGPA tells troops

ICC Iligan City (6 November) -- Lt. Gen. Victor Ibrado, Commanding General of the Philippine Army (CGPA) has ordered all his field commanders to be extra vigilant and security conscious against the attacks of the New People's Armey (NPA).

This was disclosed by Maj. Benedicto Manquiquis, Commander of the 1st Civil Military Operations (CMO) Unit, CMO Group, PA based at the Advance Command Post (ACP) of the First Infantry Division (IID), PA in Ditucalan, Maria Cristina, this city.

The order was given by CGPA in the wake of reports that the Communist Party of the Philippines/NPA has intensified the conduct of armed offensive against government forces and government installations.

Manquiquis said the order includes instructions of reinforcing troops to beleaguered units in case of the armed attacks by the CPP-NPA against the government forces and intensifying intelligence collection efforts, as well, as developing good rapport with the populace.

Meanwhile, all units are directed to adopt physical security measures by fortifying their camp defense, such as the construction of dug-in foxholes, and installation of perimeter fences and early warning devices.

The order also includes all the PA CMO battalions, CMO units and CMO schools, Manquiquis added. (OSM-Radyo ng Bayan) [top]
