Director Maninding was here to represent Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap who was invited by ARMM Governor Datu Zaldy Uy Ampatuan to grace the occasion.

The Training Center is located at Barangay Simuay in Sultan Kudarat town.

Maninding recalled that despite difficulties in its effort to form the Regional Training Center, they were l able to produce plantilla items for the training staff that will compose the regional personnel.

The plantilla items has to be sacrificed and sourced from other centers in Iligan, Bukidnon, and other areas, Maninding said.

In a related development, Maninding also disclosed that a nationwide training of trainors will start next week and up to December this year. A massive training of about 520,000 farmers under the Farmer's Field School will also start.

Maninding said, the training will start in the 48 provinces considered as focus provinces that are producing 3.8 metric tons of rice. The Department of Agriculture is ncouraging these farmers to produce more in order to sustain the level of food sufficiency in the country.

The training is in partnership with the Bureau of Soil and Water management, PhilRice, BPI, Regional and Local Government Units.

It may be recalled that last April, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo rolled out ger centerpiece program for agriculture and allotted P5.7B as an intervention package to ensure food sufficiency in the country.
