Post mails before Christmas, Philpost tells public

Tacloban City (November 11) -- The Philippine Postal Corporation Region 8 called on the mailing public to post their mails early in order to ensure that the same reach their intended destinations on or before Christmas Day.

To guide the mailing public, Mr. Oscar Bioco, Information Officer and AdFin Director of the Philippine Postal Corporation in the Region, the latest dates by which Christmas mails for 2008 should reach their destinations.

In order to reach the Asia Pacific Region before Christmas through air service, International Express Mail Service must be mailed not later than December 17; Letters must be sent not later than December 11; Parcel and Packages must be sent on or before December 18.

To reach the Asia and Pacific Region before Christmas via surface service, letters must have been sent not later than October 22; and parcel and packages must have been sent before October 22.

To reach the Middle East Region before Christmas, IEMS must be sent not later than December 15; Letters must be sent on or before December 18; and parcel and packages before December 3, via air.

Via surface, letters, parcels and packages must be sent before October 17 in order to reach the destinations before Christmas.

To reach Europe, Africa and Adjacent Continents before Christmas, IEMS must be sent not later than December 15; Letters, not later than December 8; and Parcels and Packages, not later than December 3, via air.

Via surface, letters, parcels and packages sent on or before October 20 will reach Europe, Africa and adjacent continents before Christmas.

In order to reach North America and South America before Christmas, letters, parcels and packages should have been sent on or before October 15.

To reach the destination before New Year, IEMS and letters must be sent via air to Asia and Pacific Region on or before December 22; parcels and packages, on or before December 11. If by surface, letters, parcels and packages must be sent not later than October 28.

To reach the Middle East Region before New Year, via air, IEMs, letters, parcels and packages must be sent on or before December 22, December 17 and December 6, respectively. By surface mode, letters and parcels and packages must have been sent before October 22.

The deadline for posting IEMS and letters to Europe, Africa and adjacent continents via air, in order to reach destination before New Year, is December 17, December 17 and December 6, respectively. If by surface mode, letters, parcels and packages should have been sent on October 25.

Further, the deadline for posting IEMS, letters, parcels and packages to North America and Central America via air, in order to reach the destination before New Year, is December 17, December 11, and December 4, respectively. Via surface mode, letters and parcels and packages should have been mailed on or before October 20.

Postal customers outside Metro manila are encouraged to post their mails earlier than the deadline, Mr. Bioco said.

Post Offices will still accept mail matters for Christmas and New Year, even after the deadline but delivery to addressees will be delayed, Mr. Bioco added. (PIA 8) [top]
