DOE underscores partnership with AMORE
ICC Cotabato City (12 November) -- The Department of Energy (DOE) recognizes the vital role being played by the Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) program.
This was given prominence when DOE Undersecretary Zamzamin Ampatuan praised and emphasized the continuing efforts of the people behind AMORE for putting up a 35 kw micro-hydro power project in two depressed barangays of Buldon, Shariff Kabunsuan province.
Ampatuan who led USAID, AMORE and LGU officials in blessing Friday the power project located between barangays Minabay and Karim in Buldon town said, the government can save billions of pesos in collaborating with AMORE in energizing areas, especially conflict -affected communities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, because he added, AMORE and DOE see to it that power projects, such that in Buldon incurs cheaper cost.
The power project in Buldon barangays had been started more than a year ago and completed last November 7, this year.
The power project is able to supply electricity to more than 300 households in the areas with minimal monthly electric payments.
Ampatuan appeals to the local officials and residents of Buldon to take care of the power project and manage it properly as the project is for themselves and not for people outside of the said areas.
"If this power project proves to be successful in the future and remains protected by you, the proponents will eventually put up similar projects to adjacent areas of Buldon who need electricity very badly for their daily chores," Ampatuan pointed out. (MCD/PIA) [top]
