Bago City farmers receive palay subsidy
Bacolod City (14 November) -- In line with Bago City Mayor Ramon Torres' food security program, the city implemented seeds subsidy scheme to farmers residing in Bago City.
The high yielding palay certified seeds can be procured by farmers for P440 a sack. The city government subsidized the P760 to augment the needs of the small time farmers of Bago and for them to yield more.
The Office of the City Agriculturist implemented the seed subsidy. They conducted farmers training to further enhance the knowledge of Bago farmers in rice production.
To date, the city government has distributed 3000 sacks of assorted varieties.
Bago City is considered as the rice granary of Negros Occidental.(PIA/cad) [top]
