LUISA project launched in Bacolod City
Bacolod City (17 November) -- Local governments and private groups came together for the launching of the LUISA Project, recently, at the Agape Hall of Carmel of St. Joseph in Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
LUISA stands for Lupus Inspired Advocacy which was founded by the Lisa Cojuangco-Cruz, a Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patient herself. It aims to help put together the Philippine agenda against lupus, especially in the field of research and education. It also hopes to establish a national registry of patients.
Led by Bacolod City as a major partner, other LGUs and organizations are contributing resources for the event, which gathered 200 Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients, caregivers and other support groups.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said it is a worthy cause. Leonardia mobilized various city offices assisting the project.
Other local government units assisting the project were the towns of La Castellana and San Enrique and the cities of Kabankalan, Talisay, Victorias, La Carlota and Cadiz which were helping indigent patients in going to the affair. (PIA/cad) [top]
