Mindanao Peace Week celebration set

Koronadal City (18 November) -- All is set for this year's celebration of Mindanao Week of Peace on November 27-December 3 with peace advocates and other sectors of society joining hands in undertaking necessary preparations to ensure wider involvement and participation.

Bishop Colin Bagaforo, DCC, said, launching ceremonies will be held simultaneously in Midsayap, Cotabato, Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat province, Cotabato City and Visayas as well.

This annual celebration has been going on for ten years and we continue to support efforts to bring peace in Mindanao advocating the peaceful means in resolving conflicts such as dialogues instead of violent actions, Bishop Bagaforo said.

As a staunch peace advocate, he believes that it takes integrity of the heart and mind, sincere intentions of everyone and to set aside old paradigms and open-mindedness to ideas and strategies in the quest for lasting peace not only in Mindanao but throughout the country.

With the theme: "Integrity of the Heart and Mind, A Way to Reconciliation and Peace", the bishop invites everyone to support and participate in the various activities to11 include peace camp, motorcade, peace caravan and peace concert.

Bishop Bagaforo also said, that to give more meaning to the celebration, an inter-religious forum will be conducted on December 2 at the Notre Dame University (NDU), this city with invited participants and peace advocates such as the Ulamas, bishops/priests/pastors/church leaders, civil society groups, non-government organizations (NGOs), local leaders, military and police and other stakeholders.
