DOLE Service Caravan visits Zamboanga del Sur
Pagadian City (20 November) -- The Service Caravan of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office kicked-off in the 1st and 2nd district, respectively. The 1st leg of the caravan was held in Molave on November 18 and the 2nd leg is held today (November 20) in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
Regional Director Ponciano M. Ligutom said the Service Caravan is one of the highlights of the Diamond Anniversary of DOLE in providing sincere service to the public, and is held first time ever in the province.
The DOLE will celebrate its Diamond anniversary on December 8 and has commenced the celebration last September 24 with various lined up activities, one of which is the conduct of the Operation PAWIS and the series of meetings with the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC).
During the Caravan, government vehicles paraded to the venue to inform the public the conduct of the activity and avail of various services it offers.
"We informed the public on the various programs, projects and services of DOLE, as well as other National Government Agencies, where they can maximize the chances of knowing the benefits that the national government has to offer," said Ligutom, adding that these "programs and services will trickle down to the poor sectors of society."
"The presentation of the programs and services of the national government agencies thru their representatives has certainly helped the public in availing them with much easiness," Ligutom said.
Film showing, open forum, and on-the-spot registration of the informal sectors by the representatives of SSS, Philheatlh, Pag-ibig, and PNRC were conducted, to further inform the public on the government programs. Likewise, employment facilitation were done by DOLE staff and provided assistance to job-seekers.
DOLE also turned over checks worth P2,763,275.00 to 14 identified beneficiaries: 8 from 1st District and 6 from the 2nd district where the. beneficiaries were composed of fisherfolks, farmers, women, youth, and disabled persons.
Ligutom thanked the LGUs, NGAs, and the staff for actively supporting the activities and for making the activity a resounding success. (PIA-RO9, Pagadian City) [top]
