by Rachelle M. Nessia

Dumaguete City (20 November) -- This year's Hugyawan Festival by the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) will feature a parody of Disney under the festival theme: "NORSU Entertains with a Humorous Parody of Disney."

The festival is the main event during the 6th day and last day celebration of NORSU's 81st Founders Day on December 3, 2008, said Dr. Peter T. Dayot, chair of the Hugyawan Festival 2008.

NORSU Information Officer Joy Perez said 12 contingents will compete in the half-day event with two main activities: streetdancing and showdown competitions.

"This year's Hugyawan Festival features the world of fantasies full of fun, varied noises and sounds, gimmickries, colorful costumes, merrymaking and entertainment," said Perez.

Streetdancing starts at 1 p.m. around Dumaguete City main roads. Showdown competitions follow at the NORSU Sports and Cultural Complex at 3 p.m.

The following are the 12 contingents with their respective presentations: College of Arts and Sciences: "Mary Poppins and Friends"; College of Business and Accountancy: "101 Dalmatians"; College of Education: "Pocahontas"; College of Engineering and Architecture: "A Bug's Life"; College of Industrial Technology: "Finding Nemo"; College of Maritime Education: "Tarzan and Friends"; College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences: "Aladdin and Friends"; College of Technological Education: "Prince of Egypt"; NORSU Bais City Campuses: "Little Mermaid"; NORSU Bayawan Sta. Catalina Campus: "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"; NORSU Guihulngan Campus: "Jungle Book"; NORSU Siaton Campus: "Hunchback of Notre Dame." (PIA/rmn) [top]
