SLU stude bags 17th PSQ regional elimination

Baguio City (21 November) -- A college freshman from Saint Louis University, Roy Christopher K. Ang, topped the recently concluded 17th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Elimination.
First Runner Up is Jefferson A. Ardaniel from the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, in Bangued, Abra, while Katcheri V. Gerona of the STI- College Baguio is second runner up.
A total of 34 college freshmen representing the different private and state colleges and universities in the region participated in the 17th Regional PSQ which was held at the University of the Cordilleras Amphi Theather last November 13.
The regional champion will represent the region to the National Finals which will be held in Manila on December 4, 2008.
The winners received cash prize, plaque of recognition. The champion also received gift certificate from valued sponsors and donors.
National Statistics Office Cordillera Regional Director Olivia Gulla said the PSQ aims to assess the competency and skills of college freshmen in statistics as basic knowledge obtained in their high school years. This is a yearly undertaking of the NSO and the Philippines Statistical Association since 1992 aimed to promote awareness and appreciation of statistics.
This year's PSQ Board of Judges is composed of Marie Olga S. Difuntorum of NEDA-CAR, Amy N. Ramos of the Mines and Geo Sciences Bureau (MGB-CAR), and Adrian A. Cerezo III of NSO-CAR who served as Chairman. (PIA) [top]
