Three Cordillera kids win medals in Korean Junior Int'l Takewando meet

Baguio City (21 November) -- Three local kids won medals in the recent 4th Korean Junior International Taekwando Championships held in the Gyeonggi Province of South Korea last November 1- 5.

Ronnel Arvinyadao, a 15-year old third year Special Program for Sports student of Baguio City High School, won gold medal in the international level division and silver medal in the local level - featherweight division.

Ayra April Tingdoc, a fourth year Special Science Program student also of Baguio City High School, won silver medal in the international level and bronze medal in the local level - bantamweight division.

Apriel May Solimen, a high school student from University of Baguio, won bronze medal in the international level - lightweight division.

These three students were part of an 18-man Junior Taekwando Philippine Team, composed of nine boys and nine girls, that participated in the said Taekwando meet, which also drew other international participants from Kazakhstan, Nepal, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Iran, Korea and Spain.

As medal winners, they have a big chance to be invited in the World Junior Taekwando Championship next year. These three medalists are all trained locally at the UFC Taekwando Gym, under the coaching of Melvin Morte and Arnold Oglayon. (PIA) [top]
