Commentary: PGMA, 1st head of state conferred with honorary degree in Peru

San Fernando City, La Union (24 November) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo took center stage again when she was conferred honorary doctorate degree in science, economics and administration by Senor Canseco Terry, president and founder of the Universidad de San Ignacio de Loyola in Peru when she joined other world leaders at the recently concluded APEC meeting.
With the conferment, it's another proud moment in Philippine history. PGMA brought honor to the country being the 1st foreign head of state honored by Peru's one of the most distinguished and prestigious educational institutions.
The President deserves the conferment she being a Ph.D. in economics and a master of Arts degree in science and commerce with 2 years stint in international trade at Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA with former President Bill Clinton as her classmate.
In addition, during her tenure in the Senate, she has authored 55 laws on economics and social reform where she became outstanding for several times.
In the face of all difficulties the President has confronted, she has remained unruffled, exerted all her efforts and knowledge as an economist plus the support and rich ideas of her economic team and cabinet officials, they were able to move the country closer to sustainable growth.
