Young campus writers, masscom students invited to Press Congress in Baguio, Dec. 11-13
Quezon City (26 November) -- Young school campus writers, college editors, mass communications and journalism students are invited to attend the 13th National Press Congress in Baguio City on Dec. 11-13, this year.
This was announced yesterday by Juan P. Dayang, president of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI). Dayang was a school paper editor and national vice president of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) during his student days
The 3-day press meet, the country's biggest gathering of mediamen, particularly from the provinces and cities will be held at the Benitez Hall of the newly-renovated Baguio's Teachers Camp.
Considering its inherent responsibility to develop future journalists, Dayang said the organizers of the national press congress will hold an executive session exclusively for the benefit of masscom students, college editors, writers, and advisers on Dec. 11.
After the exclusive session, the young participants will also join the regular sessions of the press congress, Dayang said.
The selected young delegates who are editors and writers are requested to bring copies of their campus publications to the press congress.
The 13th National Press Congress in Baguio City will highlight the observance of the Presidential Proclamation 1187 issued by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declaring December of every as "National Press Congress Month" and the "Month of the Community Press in the Service of the Nation" under the auspices of PAPI.
