Tagalog News: US gov't namigay ng mga libro sa school children sa Mindanao

Koronadal City (27 November) -- Humigit kumulang dalawang milyon na mga libro mula sa pamahalaan ng Estados Unidos ay naipamigay na sa iba't ibang paaralan at ibang learning institutions sa Mindanao.

Ayon kay US Ambassador Kristy Kenny, ang nasabing programa ay may kabuang $480 million na inimplementa sa ilalim ng Education, Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills Program hanggang taong 2011.

Sa kasalukuyan, mahigit 250,000 na libro na ang naipamahagi sa mga school children sa probinsiya ng Basilan, Sulu at Tawi-Tawi.

Kasabay ng pagbisita ni Ambassador Kenny inanunsiyo nito na ang US Government ay naglaan ng $2.5 million na assistance sa mga individuals at families displaced sanhi ng kaguluhan sa Mindanao.

Kasama din dito ang 1,480 metric tons ng US rice, na nagkakahalaga ng $2 million, upang ipamahagi sa pamamagitan ng United World Food Programmed, water, health at sanitation support sa pamamagitan ng NGO partners. (KAlbay/PIA 12) [top]
