'Duaw sa Kagayan' delegates to arrive in CdeO

Cagayan de Oro City (27 November) -- A group of more than 40 Cagayanons who are presently based in the United States of America (USA) is scheduled to arrive in Cagayan de Oro City on Friday, November 28, as part of the "Duaw sa Kagayan" program.

This was bared by Roy Gaane, founding president of the Kagay-anon International of Southern Califronia, in an e-mail message sent recently to City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula.

"Duaw sa Kagayan" is an annual home visit or 'balikbayan' program of the Kagay-anon International of Southern California, supported by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Department of Tourism-10 and the Congressional District Office of Congressman Rufus Rodriguez.

On the first day of their arrival in Cagayan de Oro City, the group will experience the sights and sounds at the famous Divisoria Nite Café during a barbeque dinner to be tendered by the City Tourism Board under chairperson Josy Aliñabon.

The US-based Cagayanons will also enjoy the fun-filled adventure and thrills of the city's top tourist attractions- the whitewater river rafting at the Cagayan de Oro River and gorge viewing on top of the skybridge at the Macahambus Adventure Park.

Part of the group's itinerary is a series of a must-see visits at the different tourist destinations in Cagayan de Oro City like the stoneware pottery in barangay Bulua, Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village, MacArthur Memorial Marker in Macabalan, including city tour and museum visit.

Aside from touring destination sites in Cagayan de Oro, the group will also explore other top tourism spots in the provinces of Misamis Oriental, the island-province of Camiguin, Bukidnon and the historical and eco-tourism sites in the cities of Tangub, Ozamiz and Oroquieta in Misamis Occidental.

One of the group's scheduled activities during their two-week stay from November 28 to December 11 is a public appearance before City Hall officials and employees during Monday's flag raising ceremony and a tree planting activity at the "Duaw Park" below Ysalina Bridge (formerly Carmen Bridge).

The participants will also witness the "Halad sa Pasko: A Christmas Music and Lights Festival" at the Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria aside from gift-giving for the abused children and kids at the DSWD-run refuge centers.

Mayor Jaraula is expected to meet and welcome the group when the city government tenders a breakfast meeting shortly after the flag-raising, while Cong. Rodriguez will also host a Gala Night for the visiting Cagayanons. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
