Bicycle race highlights town fiesta of Murcia
The "Tinabuay 2008" festival will be celebrated December 1-8 in Murcia, Negros Occidental, with a trisikad race and a bicycle race among its main activities.
The town of Murcia has been declared as "A biker friendly municipality".
Sangguniang Bayan member Anton Gonzaga said that Murcia is fast becoming a prime bicycle destination of the sports enthusiasts, because, aside from its proximity to other towns and cities, it has a challenging terrain and scenery that breaks the monotony of cycling alone.
Murcia is situated at the foot of Mount Kanlaon. It is located at the central eastern part of Negros Occidental bounded by the cities of Talisay, Silay and San Carlos on the north, Bago City on the south, the Municipality of Salvador Benedicto on the east, and the Bacolod City on the west. The town is 16.5 kilometers from Bacolod City.
The trisikad race will be held on Dec.1 while the road bicycle race will be on Dec.6.
The town fiesta activities will also confirm Murcia as a bike-friendly town. (PIA/cad) [top]
